How To Be Happy & Stay Motivated ♡

 Hey guys,

Today I wanted to share something with you, which is my tips on how to stay happy and motivated, even when life isn't going the way you would like it to.
I felt like sharing my best tips for you today, because I recently had a little disappointment in my life, which led me to feel a bit down.
Basically, I wanted to start studying this fall. I applied, but didn't get accepted. The Plan B was to travel Asia next spring if I didn't get in. Basically, none of those plans worked out. Now everything has changed, I won't be moving to another country but stay working here in Norway at least until December.

At first, I felt like this was going to be a super bad thing for me. I'm a person who adores to plan everything ahead, so not having a clue of the near future frightens me. The situation could have made me depressed and upset. But then I realized, that it was stupid of me to think like that. There are so many positive and amazing things in my life at the moment. This little setback doesn't have to make any difference.

I can make money, travel to visit both friends and my family in Finland, focus on this blog, my newborn Youtube-channel (haha) and Instagram, grow as a person by living completely alone (it's healthy, and a great chance to really take the time to figure sh*t out) and just focus on myself. Focusing on yourself may sound egoistic but it is vital and important if you want to be happy.

Why do I say that? Well, if you want to share your heart and make a difference, your heart can't be empty, and you will have to be fulfilled and feel good so you can pass that on, and do good.

If you're feeling a little down today, maybe you're stressed out, or sad over summer being over, here are my best tips on how to stay motivated, despite what life brings along

- Positivity is like a muscle. Nobody is just "born with it", though for some people it comes easier but we all need to work on it. Every day, before bed or as you wake up, list 5 things you are happy about or grateful for. Notice the good, because energy flows where focus goes. Being positive takes effort, energy and courage. The only power we have in life is the power of our attitude towards life.

- Surround yourself with positivity. Keep yourself in a positive environment. If you don't know any positive people, be one! You will influence others. And to keep positive, find other positive people (if not IRL, watch them on Youtube, read their blogs, instagrams etc., seek out to find more positive friends), movies, books, quotes, thoughts, listen to your favourite music daily.. Do things you love. You deserve to be happy every day. Never feel guilty over pampering yourself.

- Analyze the company you spend time in: which of your friends and family are positive people?
This is important, because you don't wanna have negative people in your life. They say we are the average of the 5 people we spend most time with.. Family is obviously harder, since you can't choose them, but if they're negative, try talking about that with them. If it doesn't help, just try spending less time with those people. It may seem harsh, but you need to do this for yourself. Don't let them take you down with them. And don't worry, new people will come to you, if you let them.
Just let go of the "negative nellies". In my opinion, it's better to be alone than with unmotivated or negative people. Positive people attract others, we all want to be around them, we all love positive vibes and want to spend time with positive people.
Always repect yourself. You deserve the best.

- Take charge of your life. Realize that, YOU are the CEO of your life. You are in charge, you have the power over how you are and what you do. You create your life! Find out what you want and start working towards it, every day. Find a purpose that makes you wanna jump out of bed every morning! Set goals and envision your future. Try to do something every day that brings you closer to your goals and dreams. If you're unhappy with something in your life, know that you can change it anytime! No excuses. Respect yourself, listen to your heart. If you're unhappy, change something. Stop complaining - you've made all the choices in your life, so if they're not serving you anymore, make new ones. If you don't like where you are atm, move - you're not a tree ;)

- Take care of yourself. Nourish yourself. Be your own best friend and honor your body, treat it with kindness. That will automatically make you a happier person. Sleep enough, exercise, drink lots of water and of course, eat healthily, try not to stress, meditate. Meditation creates awareness, which will help in understanding yourself and knowing yourself and therefore you might see the problems you have and know how to solve them, and letting go of what doesn't serve you. By being healthy you will feel energized and get more stuff done, which also leads to feeling positive and accomplished!

- Change your mindset & Believe in yourself. Practice positivity daily. Decide every day that you're in a good mood, and that nothing will pull you down. I love this quote: "All of the water in the sea cannot sink a boat, unless the water gets inside it." Don't let the circumstances influence you and break your inner peace. Count your blessings and be thankful of what you already have. If you're not thankful of what you already have, what makes you think you would be with more?
If you won't believe in yourself, than why would anyone else? Do yourself a favor and start believing in yourself. Make sure you are happy with what you are doing in your life. You're the one who goes to bed with you every night, so what you think of yourself really matters. Make sure you're happy with who you are. Focus on finding a solution, instead of on the problem.

So instead of feeling sad over my period of being alone and postponing my dreams with at least a year, I choose to be happy. I will work on things I might not have time for later on or when I'm a full-time student again, like getting into a good workout routine, traveling, eating healthy, being productive, learning a language, trying out new recipes, spending time with my girlfriends etc.. Life is 90% how you react to things and 10% the things that happen. Remember that. :) x
